About

Hi all,

I created this blog to document my journey through Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW).  For those of you who found this blog as you are journeying through TSW as well, welcome.  For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s it in a nutshell: I have suffered from eczema for years and was over-prescribed steroid creams to cope by several dermatologists, and as of late my skin was getting much worse. By May of this year my dermatologist finally told me my skin was “rebounding” from the steroids, and told me to no longer use steroid creams.  After doing some research, I found that what that meant was my skin had become addicted to the steroid creams, and that I would have to go through a painful withdrawal period to return back to my “normal” skin.  The thing is, this could take several months to several years… it varies person to person depending on the potency of the steroids and the duration used.  This blog is meant to document my journey through TSW to 1) help keep my sanity and 2) hopefully be helpful to others who may be going through or are caring for a loved one who is going through the same thing.  For more info on all this, you can visit the very helpful and informative International Topical Steroid Awareness Network at http://www.itsan.org/ .
